President’s Report: October 2012

President’s Report

October 2012

Delegates, Advisors, & Friends:

As we find ourselves halfway through the semester, it is important to take some time to reflect back on what we have accomplished. We recently have returned from the National Model United Nations Conference in Washington, D.C. This was the first time for MUNSST to attend this conference and I am proud to say that we earned our very first delegation award. A huge congratulations goes out to the students representing Ireland at NMUN-DC.

Moving forward, it is time to look ahead at what the rest of the school year has to offer. We recently added six new members to our delegation, creating our very first secondary team. This team will travel to the National Model Untied Nations Conference in New York City during Spring Break. Also in March is our much-awaited WorldMUN which will be held in Melbourne, Australia. The next few months will continue to be busy for MUNSST in regards to preparation for these two conferences. A major focus for us will be our upcoming mock session starting in late November. Also, it is of great importance that we continue to focus on fundraising and continue seeking donors through the assistance of the Office of Institutional Advancement. Also,  our next general meeting will be on November 7, 2012.

I am proud to see the excitement and passion that the primary team has gained by participating at NMUN and I hope that we can share this with our new members. Let us continue to develop all aspects of our organization as we embark on new and exciting adventures.

Thank you for your continuing support,

Alejandro Barrera
